Shoemaker

Description

Skinnergate was once a main thoroughfare into Perth. Here, just inside the burgh’s boundaries near the city wall was where the Skinners lived. Other smelly and dangerous crafts were settled just outside the wall. Leather workers lived here, and had stalls to advertise their goods.

DescriptionEN

"Welcome to my shop! I am a cordiner – a shoemaker – and I would be delighted to help you today. I’m not the only shoemaker in town, but I’m one of the most experienced, and my prices are excellent! You should come to me from now on. As you know, of course, our burgh is well-known for its craftspeople, and we can compete with the quality of craftsmanship found anywhere else in Scotland. I've even made shoes for people serving the king’s court, when they visit. What can I do for you today?"
